About Me

My photo
Proud single mom of one beautiful daughter who shares my love of sports and music. She doesn't share my love of the outdoors which I find weird. I love photography and wish I had a better camera!! Maybe someday...

San Jose Sharks Fan Appreciation 4/11/14

Hello.  I'm exhausted.  I'm watching the Sharks game and just trying to stay awake and I'm not going to make it to the end of the third period I fear. But I thought it was a good opportunity to post my pics from the fan appreciation portion of the last game of last season.

I have to apologize for the quality of the photos.  1) I just learned how to make my photos higher resolution when editing (sad, I know) and 2) if I remember correctly, my camera was not happy at that game.  Not sure why because it usually does okay in the Shark Tank.

I find Brodie Brazil a little annoying, but I love Sharkie.  Too bad the tshirt cannon wasn't pointing the other way.  (I kid!)

Fun fact about Justin Braun:  His wife (now...then GF) was in the top four (I think) on Gordon Ramsey's Masterchef.

As Captain, Jumbo addresses the fans.

 The headless hockey player
(insert bad Jeremy Roenick joke here)

The next three are the guys with the fans who won their jersey.

Two guys who I've loved for awhile.  Sadly, last season saw their huge talents diminished considerably.  Hopefully a new team and a renewed energy will rejuvenate their careers.

Man these pictures are terrible.  haha I apologize to anyone who's stuck with it this far.
Who's wearing a kilt???

Of all the players, Patrick Marleau stays out there the longest throwing tshirts.  He has quite an arm too!  I saw him get at least one into the upper deck from the ice level.
 Just look at that form.

Nothing better than Tomas Hertl's smile!  Is dream!

 Burr and Daddy

 Brauny putting his all into it!  He has pretty good form too!
Wingels throwing the splitter.

Moar Patty!

And we'll finish off with Captain America. #LongHairDontCare

I recommend any Sharks fan try to attend the last home game each season.  It's fun and really nice to see the guys interact with the fans.

Till next time.

xoxo

Hockey! Sharks Season Opener - 10/3/13

I've got 54 photos to post here so I'm going to keep the chatter to a minimum...(but I must say I was experimenting with colors in a lot of these pictures.  Subjects are not always as orange as they appear.  Although some are (I'm looking at you Doug).)

Avalanche du Colorado @ Sharks de San Jose en deux parties

And away we go...

I think I forgot to mention yesterday that this game was my birthday present to
myself since it was two days before my actual birthday.
Got an awesome ticket via HF Boards - midway up in the upper deck center ice.  Nice.

Day 3 of the "Quick Road Trip of Epic-nous" 3/24/11

So a funny thing happened on the way to the forum...  Not really, but I'm having an Alzheimer-y moment of my own and can't remember exactly what happened a year ago.  Sad...very, very sad.

Usually I rely on my photos to help along my memories when I blog belatedly. Today, that is adding to the confusion.  Reason being that I only have hockey photos edited and saved for "day 3" of our vacay last year.  But...but...but... We HAD to do more than that on day 3.  I really thought we went to Disneyland all three days (having a 3-day pass and all).  But surely, knowing myself, I would have had some photos...

...Oooohhhhhh.  ::lightbulb:: I realize what happened.  Some of the pictures that I credited as being on our first day at Disneyland were actually on the second day.  Now I'm trying to decide if I want to go back and edit or if I want to just leave it as is...hmmmm....this kinda sucks.  And because I'm sick and feeling fairly terrible, I'm having trouble filtering my thoughts which is why you get to hear my whole process.  lol  Sorry.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, decision made.  I see what I did and I'm not going to undo it. lol  Not really that important....the memories are still there; it doesn't really matter that I combined the first two days. Everything that I posted happened, just a bit out of sequence in a few spots.
We'll just devote this post to the hockey portion of the day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And on with the story:  After spending the morning and early afternoon at Disneyland, we headed  back to the hotel to get ready for the Sharks vs. L.A. Kings. We had bought tickets online as well as a parking pass.  I've been to Staples before, but only for X-Games.  And that hasn't been for a few years unfortunately.  So of course that equaled to us getting lost trying to find the parking lot we were assigned.

It took us several turns around the building to find it and it was several blocks away which was not what we were hoping for with the intermittent showers.  But find it we did and we hustled our asses through the busy streets to try to make it for warm-ups.

Saw a lot of Sharks fans - a welcome sight since you never know how you're going to be received in an away arena. We made it inside and found our seats.

Life Lessons thru Bad Parenting - Washington Capitals @ SJ Sharks 2/17/11

I'm working through my extreme lack of energy to post this.  The photos have been (roughly & quickly) edited for weeks but life has been coming at me too fast and too depressingly for me to find the wherewithal to put jumbled thoughts to fingertips to screen...

But without further ado,
 The life lesson I learned at the Capitals/Sharks game:
Bad parenting and a bratty kid trumps
well-behaved kid and meek parenting.

At least when it comes to getting hockey pucks.
Here's the story.  We arrived pregame and took our customary place in the second row (okay, our customary place is often right on the glass but that hardly matters, now does it?  Back to the story.) on the visitors side.  There was a woman sitting with two youngsters, a girl and a boy, right in front of us on the glass.

The girl was a bit cra-cra as we like to say. Yelling, running back and forth, banging the glass, etc.  All in good fun.  The boy was also having a good time, talking excitedly, laughing, etc. They were wearing Capitals gear and had made a couple of signs for Ovechkin.
 They were sitting with a nice woman we shall call Mommy. Daddy, apparently, was sitting over on the Sharks side.  So after causing a bit of mayhem, the girl decides she wants to go see her dad.  Mom says okay.  Exit the kids.

Return the kids + the dad who now sits about 3 rows behind us.  The kids make their way back to the glass and resume sitting in the exact seats that they were sitting in before.

Edmonton Oilers @ Da Sharks 12/21/10

Wow, I really have to keep more up to date on these blog posts!  By the time I get around to editing the pictures and actually blogging, I've forgotten what was going on!  lol  Sucks to be old and blonde.

So this was a mystery puck game and I really, really wanted to go.
It was a bit stressful leading up to it because we bought the tickets pretty far in advance and then, before I knew it, game day was there and I hadn't made arrangements to take care of my mom.

Again, the blondeness!
Luckily Jeanette (not me, the other Jeanette) came through and we were able to go.

We got there in time and I bought two mystery pucks.
I unwrapped the first one to find a Ginner puck!  Yay!!  The second one was a John McCarthy puck, which made Adrienne happy.  We do love our Wooster boys...

After we got settled in, I couldn't help myself...I wanted another puck. It was pointless to resist because I couldn't!  The third puck was a Devon Setoguchi which is a pretty good get.

After getting our pucks, we made our way down to the glass.

Sharks Mid-Season Rant

I was going to post my pics & thoughts from my trip to see Ryan Malone and the Tampa Bay Lightning take on the Sharks in November but first a few random thoughts:

Another brutal Sharks loss last night.  This team is talented offensively and there is just no damn reason for the lack of scoring.  Our defense is not as atrocious as previously anticipated but it's not good enough to support a dearth of scoring .

San Jose Sharks (true) Home Opener 10/16/10

Vs. the Gilligan's Island Blackhawks.
Castoffs?  Get it?  Never mind.
:clears throat:
Vs. the Atlanta Thrashers!

Gorgeous night in San Jose.  In case you haven't noticed, this is the 20th anniversary for the Sharks.
That very much featured at HP Pavilion in new banners, etc.

Catching Up - Moar Captain's Ice! 9-2-10

Ya know, for something I enjoy, I'm pretty bad at keeping up with this blog!  I suppose it's understandable when you figure I work full-time & take care of an Alzheimer's patient full-time + my naturally lazy, procrastinating personality.  :-)

In my last entry, I touched upon Thomas Greiss and the Shark's goalie tandem of Niittymakii and Greiss.  I mentioned that it was current as of that day but lasted for only one week.  As our adventures in ice continue, we learn that Grandmaster Doug Wilson went out and bought himself another Finnish goalie!  A Stanley-Cup winning Finnish goalie named Anti Niemi.  So now we have Finnish bookends at goal and a media blitz at Shark's Ice to report on this new development.

Thomas looked pretty bummed during the whole skate...  He and Patrick Marleau shared a cute moment during the scrimmage.  Thomas came out to play the puck and Patty skated up and gave him a pretty good shove.  Greiss shoved him back; then they stopped and smiled at each other.  I'm so glad I snapped this blurry picture to capture the moment \sarcasm
