About Me

My photo
Proud single mom of one beautiful daughter who shares my love of sports and music. She doesn't share my love of the outdoors which I find weird. I love photography and wish I had a better camera!! Maybe someday...

Homage to Hockey! Last Game of Last Season San Jose Sharks vs. Colorado Avalanche 4/11/14

As I sit here getting ready for the Sharks to whup some LA Kings butt at Levi Stadium for the Stadium Series game...and wishing I could have gone to the game...I thought I would post a blog that I MEANT to do last season during the playoffs.

But.

The. Exit.

Happened.

So I didn't feel like doing shit all involving hockey.  And this is the last game I've been to since I haven't had the money or inclination really to attend a game this year.

Without further bitching, have some fucking photos.  #FuckingRights

Hey!  Here's some bitter nostalgia for you Sharks fans!  Drew Remenda and his Bald Head.  Now working for the Oilers.
Love or hate the guy, he was ours.  *tear
This dude should be the Sharks next captain. #CaptainAmerica
Why do his lips look blue in that picture?  IDK...weird.

Drew releasing the Bracken

I still love and miss this guy.  #Ginner

Pardon me while I perve for a minute...

 Talbo!

Well, this is strange...what is Wingels doing with his mouth?  Is that a smile??
Dat tongue and dat hair doe...perving again...excuse me.

Oh Daddy.  Miss you.

 Scrum!
Havlat Hattrick!  Yes, this is the actual 3rd goal.  I had a premonition.

Checking out the replay
Another scrum!  Shep be trollololing
Ahhh, Boyler!  Miss you too baby.  But it was time.
And Sharks Win!!  5-1  Brodie interviews Marty.  Love you Marty.  Sorry it sucked to be in San Jose...from almost everyone's perspective.

Thank you for joining me on this only semi-bitter nostalgic journey.

Join me next post for the Fan Appreciation festivities!

xoxo

Had a Suite, Suite time at the Sharks/Blackhawks Game! 2/1/14 Part 3

So my arm is finally a lot better.  It still hurts and gets numb when I type too much, so I probably won't be doing as much typing in this post.

Quick Recap since it's been over a month:

  • Went to San Jose
  • Gave Blood at the Sharks & Stanford blood drive
  • Won tickets in a penthouse suite & a parking pass
  • Sold the tickets I already had
  • Bought a mystery puck and it was Alex Stalock
  • Watched warmups on the glass
  • Drooled over Patrick Sharp while talking to two dudes from Chicago

And then we went up to our suite...where we had a nice view of the banners.  #SoPretty

This is what the ice looks like from our corner suite.

Yeah, I had a "leaner" and yes, leaning DOES matter if you sit in front of someone in the upper level at the Tank.  Luckily for us, she switched seats with someone when the game started so she wasn't in front of us.

Sharkie!
...O'er the La-and of the Freeeeeeeeeee!  And the hommme of the...brave!
I liked the view of the flags with the shark head.  An angle you don't get to see every game.
According to a sign in the suite, it is Marty Havlat's personal suite which he donated to the Stanford Blood Center.  That was cool because I am a big Mach9 fan from back in the day.
Several people besides us wrote nice messages to Marty. I wonder if he really saw them? Of course, me being me, I told him he was really handsome.  Here's a closeup of the sign #GingerPower!
Don't worry Sharkie, I yelled quite a bit.  Couldn't talk very well for a few days.  Sharks ended up winning in a shootout with my three FAVORITE players on the Sharks scoring!  Pavs, Patty, Jumbo.  It was awesome.

After the game we headed back to our free Marriott room to relax and get a good nights sleep for our Mystery Spot adventure the next morning.

xoxo

Hockey! Sharks Season Opener - 10/3/13

I've got 54 photos to post here so I'm going to keep the chatter to a minimum...(but I must say I was experimenting with colors in a lot of these pictures.  Subjects are not always as orange as they appear.  Although some are (I'm looking at you Doug).)

Cliff's Notes:

Where Did The Party Go? - Sharks/Canucks Game 4 - 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs 5/7/2012

That is my Fall Out Boy inspired (or stolen, depending on your outlook) title.  If you're an FOB fan like me which - let's face it - most people my age are definitely not, you'll know that they used to write extremely loooonnnngggg song titles.  Their new cd is different, so I fixed one of the songs for them.

Just in case you're not a fan, but feel like they sound familiar, this is probably why:

Damn, that video made me really fucking sad. Which is surprising since there is a (not)surprising lack of Sharks in it.   I really thought the Sharks were going to do it this year.  I still think they got robbed.  You will NEVER convince me that the Kings were handed game 2 in L.A. with that incredibly bogus 5-3 in the waning minutes of the game.  The Stuart penalty? Okay, maybe although the Kings are truly the Kings of interference which never gets called.  The Vlasic puck over the glass?  No. Fucking.Way.  That went off of the Kings player.

Yes, you can argue that the Sharks should have killed off the penalty, but that late in a close game...having a bullshit call practically gift a tie to the opposition...
pretty demoralizing, I can imagine.

And don't even get me started on the bullshit suspension of Raffi Torres.  He deserves a lot of things but a 6 game suspension for THAT particular hit was definitely NOT one of them.

But I digress.

This post is about a HAPPIER time.  A time when the Sharks were ebulliently crushing the Canucks who, ironically, were ardently complaining about the refs themselves.  Oh, good times.

We got there late.  Which wasn't a good time.  We left Sacramento with plenty of time, but traffic was horrible.  So we got there at the tail end of warm ups and couldn't even think about getting close to the glass.  Nevertheless, pictures!

Fan Appreciation=Mutual Lovefest - Last Home Game Part 3

FAN APPRECIATION (fan uh-pree-shee-ey-shuh n) (NOUN): ________________________________
Thankful recognition, with an increase  or rise in the
value of property, goods, etc., of the people who love
you with an extreme and uncritical enthusiasm or zeal.

Sounds about right for Sharks fans.  Except for the "uncritical" part; Sharks fans are extraordinarily hard on their team, players and coaches alike.  I think it comes from being sooooo close for so long and not quite getting the job done.   The job?  This...

With this victory over the Dallas Stars, The San Jose Sharks clinched a playoff spot for the 9th straight year...second only to the Red Wings stretch of 22 consecutive years.

Last Home Game - Part 2 - Moar Pics!

Holy hell, the Sharks just beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 in game 3.  AMAZEBALLS!!  I am soooooo excited because I am going to game 4!  That's right.  Adrienne's wonderful friend Kyle gave her two tickets for the game for her birthday.  And then he couldn't go.  So Mama benefits!  Happy mother's day to me. :-)

This is Adrienne....
And this is me...
