About Me

My photo
Proud single mom of one beautiful daughter who shares my love of sports and music. She doesn't share my love of the outdoors which I find weird. I love photography and wish I had a better camera!! Maybe someday...

Edmonton Oilers @ Da Sharks 12/21/10

Wow, I really have to keep more up to date on these blog posts!  By the time I get around to editing the pictures and actually blogging, I've forgotten what was going on!  lol  Sucks to be old and blonde.

So this was a mystery puck game and I really, really wanted to go.
It was a bit stressful leading up to it because we bought the tickets pretty far in advance and then, before I knew it, game day was there and I hadn't made arrangements to take care of my mom.

Again, the blondeness!
Luckily Jeanette (not me, the other Jeanette) came through and we were able to go.

We got there in time and I bought two mystery pucks.
I unwrapped the first one to find a Ginner puck!  Yay!!  The second one was a John McCarthy puck, which made Adrienne happy.  We do love our Wooster boys...

After we got settled in, I couldn't help myself...I wanted another puck. It was pointless to resist because I couldn't!  The third puck was a Devon Setoguchi which is a pretty good get.

After getting our pucks, we made our way down to the glass.

2010 Sharks Teal and White Game September 21

Thanks to a couple of nice posters at HF Boards, Adie and I decided to "sneak" into the Teal and White game (TWG).

The TWG is the Sharks annual preseason welcome for season ticket holders.  The event is free with your ticket holder id and there are autograph tables set up for all the players followed by a scrimmage.  Needless to say, we are not season ticket holders.

One poster emailed me the "save the date" flyer to use as a season ticket holder invitation and another poster pm'd me his phone number in case the "invitation" didn't fly. See?  There are still awesome people in the world.  Otherwise, I might not have made the drive to San Jose with no guarantee of getting in the doors.  We did have a backup plan, which was to backtrack to Oakland since the A's were in town.

But, with just a little stress, we got in!  Yay!  First thing we did was note that all of the lines to the autograph tables were already hella long.  No thank you.  The sucky thing (for me) was that 3 of the 4 tables were located in the upstairs eateries...so you couldn't just walk thru and see the players and take photos.  You had to actually stand in line if you wanted to gawk.  Again...no thank you.

So, thanks to the setup, here are a ton of pictures from the ONE table that was located directly on the concourse.
Luckily three of my favorites were at the table,

Hockey Season! How about a little Captain's Skate 9/9/10?

I'm sitting here (mainly) watching the Blackhawks and Avalanche start their season.  Go Avs!  And Sharpie!  Funnily enough I'm having a tough time cheering for the 'Hawks for the following reasons:

1)  They swept us!  Come on!
2)  I want Turco to suck ass.
3)  We have Niemi who is our defacto starter; Greiss (and possibly Niitty) had a better camp.
4)  John Michael-Liles
5)  Tutu!

SHARKS NEWS

Jumbo is our captain!  Jumbo is our captain!  So happy this makes me!
Awwww...I luvs Joe Thornton!  There will be a lot of naysayers but I think it could be a really, really good thing for Joe and the team.  And I'm glad that Danny Boyle is the A; he deserves it.  Patty and Clowie will share the other A.  In honor of our new captain...  O Jumbo, my Jumbo!

In other Sharks news...I'm inclined to believe that Doug Wilson is a bit of a dick.

Now, I know that I don't fully appreciate the business side of hockey and definitely come from a homer fandom point of view.  That being acknowledged, I think it was a total dick move to take Thomas Greiss to his home country of Germany and then not let him play in the preseason game.  Give him one fucking period already.

I understand that your new acquisition is late to the party...errr, system...and needs all the playing time and practice he can get so that hopefully he will be a semi-decent goalie for us with our fairly crappy defense.  And I also understand that you're not going to admit that Niemi might not be the greatest goalie to ever win a Stanley Cup.
But that was pretty damn bad.
It was also pretty lame to take Lilja to Europe and then release him just before the start of the season.  When he has like 4 days to fly home and gather his family to move them back to Sweden.  Unless he finds another job.
End Sharks News

And now for another installment of Captain's Ice.
(But may I just interject that Vampire Diaries is killing it tonight?!?!  Awesome...)
