Once upon a time back in the day when I actually had free time and money, I went to as many MX/SX/FMX events as I could. Fun times resulted as well as some ridiculous drama. For the record, I definitely don't miss the drama... But I do miss the bikes and riders and smell of premix in the morning.
So I decided to have Whit work for me and take the day off from responsibility to head over to Oakland for the AMA Supercross. Well, part of it anyway...
No one was available to watch me mum, and Adie had to work so I had to head back to be home to help her with dinner and get her ready for bed. BUT I was able to wander the pits and watch practices in the rain and generally have a really relaxing fun time.
So here, without further ado, are my photo memories from that day. As I mentioned, it was chilly and raining - at times fairly significantly. So pictures were hurried, camera didn't like to focus and I didn't like to take the time to make it focus. Sos you gets what you gets.
The day didn't cost much except for the commute costs since I had a free ticket; when I got there shortly after 12:30 p.m. there was a practice going on so I stopped there first.
After taking in the course set up for a bit, I headed over to the pits. My first observation?
Grant Langston is still gorgoeus.
My 2nd observation?
Chad and Ellie are still the cutest couple,
although their little boy beats both of them put together.
Don't go Daddy! lol
Ryan Dungey was rockin the Oakland Raiders lid. Looked good, but I'd rather see the A's. haha
And I still love those pretty Rockstar Makita zooks. (Hence the yellow text)

Next I wandered over to Kevin Windham's pit.
I love Kdub. He's one of the nicest, gracious riders in the pits.
Nick Wey has always been a favorite. Unfortunately, I didn't see him in the pits.
Did see Lil Hanney though.
And Kyle Chisholm
Gotta admire the true privateers. Respect.
Then it was time to head back for more practice! Both for me AND the riders.
Riders heading back to the pits...
And riders heading out to practice...
The track had some lovely ruts in it
Nick Wey cut the track in front of me.
Started to rain pretty heavily about 5:00ish so I decided it was a good time to make my exit.
I waited in an impossibly long, unmoving line for the BBQ stand (I was starving, hadn't eaten all day!) for about 20 minutes before giving up. Some genius had decided that not many people were going to be there for practices and they only opened about 20% of the food stands. The rest were slated to open at 6:00. Stupid. Got my brain working and headed to In-and-Out.
All in all, I'm really glad I went.
Wish I could have stayed for the race, but wasn't completely heartbroken thanks to the weather
AND the fact that Bubba won. Snooze, no thank you.
Two of my favorites did podium at least. Reedy was 2nd and Dungey was 3rd.
